Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is a mid-sized border city in southern Ontario, earning its fame from the beautiful, world-renowned waterfalls of the same name. Bordering New York State, the city brings millions of tourists very year from all over the world.

The Niagara Falls are comprised of three waterfalls, the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls. The Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the three waterfalls, lie on the Canadian side of the border. They are formed by the Niagara River which drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario to the north. At peak times, nearly 6 million cubic feet of water drains over the crest of the falls every minute.
Queen Victoria Park, one of the city’s many beautiful parks, overlooks the Niagara Falls and holds events throughout the year. Events include the Festival of Lights, and New Year’s and Canada celebrations. Even when not holding an event, the park is impeccably landscaped with gorgeous flowers, making it the perfect place for a scenic stroll or picnic with friends and family.
A truly hidden natural gem in Niagara Falls is Dufferin Islands, a collection of small islands near the Niagara River, connected by bridges and footpaths. During the holidays it is incorporated into the Festival of Lights and visitors can drive through a curated route that showcases all of its natural beauty with stunning lighting designs.
In the city surrounding the falls is an endless supply of fun and entertainment for the whole family. The city has two casinos, as well as many hotels, water parks (both indoor and outdoor), and tons of other unique attractions. Between the casinos and the Scotiabank Convention Centre, the city is host to conventions, concerts, comedians, acrobats, and performers of all kinds, year-round. Clifton Hill, which overlooks the falls, is an exciting street with three unique arcades, Ripley's museum, a year-round haunted house, fun house, bowling, the SkyWheel (a large Ferris wheel overlooking the falls) as well as many other fun activities!
The city's tourist area does not end there, continuing down Lundy's Lane, one of the area’s most famous historical sites where the Battle of Lundy's Lane took place during the war of 1812. Although Lundy's Lane itself accommodates tourism with shopping, hotels, and restaurants, it is surrounded by friendly neighborhoods encompassing century's old historic homes and newer-built family homes.
Downtown Niagara Falls is a hub for locals as well as tourists. The neighborhood was originally established in the 1850’s, and many of its historic features have been preserved. Restaurants, fine art galleries and studios, as well as excellent shopping make up the downtown core.
Believe it or not, Niagara Falls is a golfer’s paradise! There are many pristine courses nearby, including Thundering Waters, designed by professional golf legend John Daly, just minutes from the falls. The Niagara Parks Commission operates three championship-level public golf courses, two of which—Whirlpool Golf Course and Legends on the Niagara—have been rated in the top 20 Best Value golf courses in all of Canada by Score Golf and Golf Pass.
Ten minutes down the road from Niagara Falls is historic Niagara-on-the-Lake, a town located on the Niagara River and surrounded by wineries and gourmet restaurants.
Although the city is known worldwide for its natural beauty and fun family tourism, it is also an excellent place to call home as it continues to expand and improve. Why let the tourists have all the fun?
