Fort Erie

Fort Erie is a border city at the southeast end of the Niagara Region. The city encompasses the communities of Crystal Beach, Ridgeway, Stevensville, and Black Creek.

As a major gateway for shipping and transportation to and from the United States via the Peace Bridge, Fort Erie sees millions of travellers pass through each year. Large companies specializing in sophisticated manufacturing and technology choose to locate in Fort Erie because of its unparalleled transportation access right at the border.
Not just a great place for businesses to establish themselves, Fort Erie is also a lovely place to live. Residents enjoy the beautiful shores of the Niagara River and the sandy beaches of Lake Erie. Beaches such as Erie Beach and Bay Beach, which is more popularly known as Crystal Beach, draw thousands of visitors in the summer months from the GTA as well as Buffalo, New York. Visitors and locals enjoy the beaches and the water while swimming, sailing around Point Abino Bay, or revving up the jet ski for a ride into to lake. Black Creek is a gorgeous historical village, and popular canoeing and kayaking destination. Paddle along the smooth water, gliding under charming bridges surrounded by lush trees and beautiful scenery.
The Fort Erie Racetrack has been the home of thoroughbred horse racing since the late 1800’s. The track continues to draw visitors to its signature event, the prestigious Prince of Wales Stakes, the second jewel in the Canadian Triple Crown. The fun doesn’t end with racing when visiting the track, spectators can also enjoy the Turfside Dining Room, Farmer’s Market, and other seasonal events.
Museums like the Fort Erie Historical Museum and the Railway Museum preserve the details and artifacts of the area’s long and eventful history. The historic district of Bridgeburg is located in Fort Erie’s downtown core. Economic incentives and strategic development have led to an increase in new businesses opening their doors downtown, as well more visitors to patron this historic neighborhood.
New homes continue to be built along Lake Erie, and along the creeks and rivers in the area as home builders satisfy buyers’ desires to live in a beautiful setting without compromising community feel and access to amenities. Further plans to develop the waterfront and downtown will surely attract even more businesses and permanent residents.
